The Hayes family spent the weekend in Delta, Utah. If you find yourself in the middle of nowhere, drive west another hour to find this beautiful little farming town. Matty's grandparents have a house and a farm there. The house looks small from the outside but is a maze of rooms and space on the inside. Mickey was having the time of his life, smelling and giving kisses to the sheep, running back and forth on the big spot of land, and chasing gma and gpa Porter's tiny dog Ginger. This dog was about the size of a cucumber and did not enjoy Mickey's curious antics.
The trip was very relaxing, sitting around talking with family, reading, going for strolls, and watching the sun set and some World Cup matches. We also took a trip to the reservoir to enjoy the water. Jack took a face plant into the sand, effectively shortening our activity. But we had a nice time enjoying the water. I had a small bout of anxiety the entire trip because Jack was not getting enough sleep. It's hard to stray from the routine. He was zombie tired the whole time, probably from all the sun he was getting and how little he was sleeping during the night (ugh). He knew there was too much fun to be had and didn't want to miss out. Jack got a lot of walks from Grandma Hayes who can't get enough of him, and he liked Great Grandpa Porter. Matty's mom watched him two mornings in a row so that Matt and I could sleep in. It was a blessed thing indeed! Sunday morning I didn't wake up until 10:30! Repeat, 10:30! It's probably been at least a year since I've pulled a stunt like that.
It was a good trip, but coming home and showering was equally satisfying.
That blue hate kills me! It sounds like it was such a fun weekend!
