We had a great Easter this year. I forgot how much more fun Easter is with kids! My parents came up from California to spend the weekend. As always, they stayed in our little guest room at the front of the house and settled in. The Lyons spent the night Saturday as well so all 9 of us were in this three-bedroom house being cozy, decorating Easter eggs, having a BBQ out on the deck, and running around the backyard. Jack and Nic even managed to nap in the same room together without waking each other up: miracle. Lisa and I put out our boys' baskets with little goodies for them to find in the morning. With Jack's inability to eat candy, I had to get creative. He got a little bunny stuffed animal, his first toothbrush (he now has teeth! yes, plural), new pacifiers, a book, and some jams (i.e., pajamas). I did end up throwing a few chocolate eggs in there for looks, of course, and Andrew Paul ended up taking them out of Jack's basket, haha. Resourceful kid, that one. I fully understand Jack wasn't aware he got an Easter basket, but I just had to. Come on. We had a few egg hunts both indoors and outdoors. My favorite one may have been Giky's where we just threw the eggs on the grass in plain sight.
Then we all got ready and went to church, where, of course, the talks were about the Savior and the resurrection. At one point I was just sitting in the pew, holding my little bundle of a baby, just feeling so grateful for my faith and for my belief that the Savior lived and died, then rose again. He gave me all I have and it's--everything.
After we said goodbye to my parents and took a little r&r, we headed up to Matty's parents for Easter dinner. His mom does an extreme adult egg hunt in their huge hunk of a backyard with dollar bills inside each egg. Out of 25, Matty and I ended up with only 6. Next year. We played wits & wagers to wrap up the night, and Jack let us know very theatrically that we needed to head home, so we did.
And that's all there was.
Oh my gosh, that outfit Jack wears next to his Easter basket !!!
