I found this unpublished post from last year. Bah. Talk about behind.
The week of the fourth of July, we made a trip down to California to be with my entire family. We are never all together, so we had a great time.
The night before the trip I felt very apprehensive because it was just then hitting me that I would be taking a baby on a plane having done no research. I figured we would survive the quick trip, so I packed some toys and a good attitude as we headed to the airport. All went well except for some nap-fighting. There was this baby about the same age in the row across from us who was playing happily and then drifted to sleep in his mother's arms. Sigh.
The day we got there, we spent time at home getting re-acquainted with the family. The next day we went to the beach, obviously. It was about the most perfect a beach day could be: sunny with a breeze and water that was cold, but not too. We stayed as late as we could and then went to In n Out.
On the day of the fourth, we had a barbecue with the family, while the kids played in the little kiddie pool out front. When it was time for the fireworks, we all went and got in my parents boat and went out on the lake. We had the best view. It was probably Canyon Lake's best firework show that I can remember. It was the first time being in my parent's new boat, and it was amazing. I'm glad we started the tradition.
The next day we went to the beach again. Someone had the great idea to bring along the kiddie pool so Cooper and Jack played together in the pool on the sand under the umbrella. Matty, me, Lis, and Matt all went boogie boarding together. I still got it! Ha.
I hardly took any pictures, so that shows what a good time I had.
