During this hike, we placed Jack in the carrier so that he was facing backward. He LOVED this. I was walking behind them the whole way up so Jack was just staring at me and laughing so hard. His three favorite things: being in nature, being bounced, and watching mom.

hike number two.
Last week, we ventured out to do our second family hike. We went to Rocky Mouth Falls in Sandy. This hike was much shorter than Battle Creek, but it was also a lot steeper. My legs were burning. It started out through these gorgeous houses, up quite a few steps, and finally into this lovely nature walk. We passed by a lot of caves, and the trees hung over the path just right. The hike lead up to a waterfall as well. We had to jump rocks to get close to it. Luckily Jack was on Matty's back again because I don't trust my balance these days. I thought more than once how amazing it would be to come up to that place and do my writing.

On the hike back, Matty discovered the single most beautiful rose I have ever seen. It even trumped the beauty and the beast rose, if you can believe it. He picked it for me and I carried it all the way down, very happy about this flower.
