stewart falls hike.
We continued our summer hiking series with the Stewart Falls trail up Provo canyon a few weeks ago. This hike was beautiful in every way. The trail was covered with flowers and shrubs and an overhang of big tree branches. Jack went in the carrier on Matty's back like usual, and he had the best time looking around and smiling his huge grin at me as I pretended to chase after him. I love that he loves nature. The trail was about 4 miles round trip. We went at a good pace so that we would be back before dark. The trail ended with a huge waterfall. We sat on nearby rocks, ate a snack, and prepared ourselves for heading back down. We couldn't hang out too long, though, because we saw ominous clouds start to gather. Almost as soon as we started making our way back, it started to rain. It was light at first, but then it became super heavy. Concurrently, Jack started to realize it was close to his bedtime and got really fussy. I transferred the carrier to my chest so that I could maybe get him to sleep and cover him from the rain. It was absolutely pouring. I rather enjoyed it actually except for the fact that I was worried about keeping Jack dry. Of course he wanted to peek out and look at everything and I was constantly having to put his head down so that he wouldn't get drenched. He didn't love me for that. We went slow so that I wouldn't slip with him in tow. There were lots of moms and babies hurrying down the trail as well. Once we got back to the shelter of the car, it was such a relief. We had a great time but drove home fast to get dry.
