easter 2015.

This weekend was a trifecta of sorts. It was general conference weekend, the parents came down to visit, and it was Easter weekend.

The weekend began when we picked Nana and Papa at the airport. We met the Lyons at the park where Nana and Papa bestowed gifts and the kids played in the sand. Jack ended up with sand in every crevice, so that was fun. Saturday consisted of a very fun and Nana-funded Target trip and then the two general conference sessions. It went fast, and that evening we went to the Thanksgiving Point gardens. It wasn't quite the tulip festival yet, but it was beautiful. Jack ran all around sniffing flowers trying to keep up with the cousins and avoiding the stroller.

Easter Sunday meant no church, but four hours of general conference. Why is not having to get dressed the best thing? The kids spent a lot of time outside with Mickey. We did a few egg hunts that the boys more or less didn't care much for, but they liked the candy inside so Andrew and Nicholas were motivated. Jack would find an egg, eat the candy, and drop it in the middle of the grass again. He would find himself back at that same egg, disappointed there was no candy inside. I tried to help him along. After dinner, the parents left for the Lyons house to spend the night so it was goodbye until next visit.

Then the three of us went to Matty's parents house. His parents do an egg hunt every year (for the adults since there is only Jack). The eggs contain money so it gets pretty competitive. They made an egg hunt especially for Jack with eggs that looked like sport balls (i.e., footballs, baseballs, basketballs). I didn't get to see him do it because of course I was working intensely on the money hunt, but he collected them all and had such a fun time. They also gave him a plastic lawn mower that sends out bubbles when you push it. He loves it. (Just to be clear, I'm very terrible at the money hunt. The Hayes siblings are very good at finding them and come back with tons of money. I think I ended up with a dollar.)

We came home pooped and grateful for our family. And also that we can think of our Savior during the Easter Sunday and listen to the words of our prophets.
